Applications for the 2008 - 09 school year are now being accepted for the Head Start program in Winfield, located at 406 Apache St. The program is open to students three-five years of age. For enrollment, a parent/guardian should bring the student ’s Alabama Blue Slip (immunization card), birth certificate, Social Security card, 2006-07 verification of income, and Medicaid or insurance card. Summer registration is slated for April 1 - June 30. Information: 487-2314.

Organizers are now accepting applications from vendors, clubs, and organizations for the 15th Annual Mayfest in Guin, which will be held on May 9 - 10. Food items must be approved and meet health department requirements. Booth spaces are $35 in advance and $45 after May 5. Applications for booths are available at www.guinal.org. the Bethel Apostolic Holiness Church would like to invite everyone to come to enjoy worship, singing, and preaching. Services start Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Anyone having flowers at the Shottsville Cemetery should have them removed and graves cleaned.

Sunday, april 27
The Rev. Sammy Gilbreath, director of the office of evangelism of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions in Montgomery, will be the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services at the First Baptist Church of Guin as part of the church ’s Family Celebration Revival. The Rev. Shannon Knight, associate pastor/music of First Baptist Church in Guin, will lead worship.

Decoration will be held at the Crooked Creek Cemetery in Marion County. Those with loved ones buried there are asked to please arrange to have the family plots cleaned off beforehand. Fellowship will begin at 2 p.m. Information: Kin Dodd, (205) 681-0142.
