Alabama State Troopers
The following incidents were reported by the Alabama State Troopers Post in Hamilton for the week ending on July 27:
•  Elyssa B. Guttery, 20, Winfield, driving a 1998 Ford, and Lora L. Harris, 42, Brilliant, driving a 2006 Ford, were involved in a two-vehicle accident on July 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 278 and Alabama 129. Both drivers and Guttery’s passenger, Jessica Jones, 23, were listed as injured.
• Walter G. Sigman, 61, Collierville, Tenn., driving a 2006 Honda, was involved in a one-vehicle accident on July 24 at 1:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 78 (Future Interstate 22) at the 32 mile-marker. Sigman was listed as being injured.

Food ratings
The Marion County Health Department reported the following food establishments were inspected on July 18-22:
• Cardinal Drive Inn, Winfield, 90.
• Crossroads Market and Deli, Winfield, 93.
• Huatulco Mexican Restaurant, Winfield, 93.
• Dinelli’s Pizza and Pasta, Hamilton, 94.
• Webster’s Piggly Wiggly, Guin, 94.
• Ivie’s Supermarket, Winfield, 95.
• Webster’s Deli, Guin, 97.
• Northwest Medical Center, Winfield, 98.

Hamilton Police Dept.  
HAMILTON - The following arrests and activities were reported by the Hamilton Police Department for the week of July 20-26:
Incident and offense cases
Two each for criminal mischief, illegal possession of tax-paid alcoholic beverage and possession of marijuana; and one each for third-degree domestic violence, third-degree burglary, first-degree theft of property, third-degree theft of property and leaving the scene of an accident.
Arrests or citations
Five for no insurance; three for license suspended; two each for speeding, no driver’s license, illegal possession of tax-paid alcoholic beverage and second-degree possession of marijuana; and one each for running a stop sign, improper tag, open container, reckless endangerment, attempting to elude, and warrant-other agency.
Warnings
Eight for improper equipment and four for speeding.
Parking
Three for parking illegally; two for parking in a prohibited zone; and one for parked in a fire lane.

Marion Co. Drug Task Force
HAMILTON - The following arrests and activities were reported for the week ending July 27:
Among the misdemeanor arrests for the period were the following: Three for possession of drug paraphernalia and two for meth labs/dump sites cleaned and disposed of.
The following felony arrests were also reported:
• Charles Allen Scott, 39, Vina, was arrested on July 22 for attempt to manufacture, possession of paraphernalia and certain person forbidden to possess a firearm and was released the same day from the Marion County Jail in Hamilton under a $5,500 bond.
• Kevin Lee Swanigan (also known as Kevin Lee Chaney), 36, Guin, was arrested on July 21 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and second-degree possession of marijuana and remained in the county jail as of July 27 under a $5,500 bond.
• Jessica Nicole Walker, 30, Guin, was arrested on July 21 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and second-degree marijuana (as well as by Guin officers for interference with government operations) and remained in the county jail as of July 27 under a $7,000 bond.
(When a defendant is charged with a crime, the charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)

Marion Co. Sheriff’s Dept.
HAMILTON - The following arrests and activities were reported for the week ending July 27:
Arrests or citations
Among the misdemeanor arrests for the period were the following: Four for alias (circuit court); three for driving under the influence; two each for alias (traffic court), bench warrant and judge’s order; and one each for public intoxication, probation violation, non-support, third-degree domestic violence (assault), drug court violation, and cruelty to animals.
The following felony arrests were also reported:
• Adam Benton, 29, Guin, was arrested on July 25 for driving under the influence and third-degree escape and was released from the county jail on July 26 under a $3,500 bond.
• Floyd Chambers, 47, Haleyville, was arrested on July 26 for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and trafficking and remained in the county jail as of July 27 as no bond had been set as of that date.
• Sandy Flippo, 29, Winfield, was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance on July 12 and was released from the county jail on July 22 under a $3,000 bond.
• Ronald Pearson, 44, Hamilton, was arrested on July 26 for second-degree theft of property and was released the same day from the county jail under a $5,000 bond.
• Judy Wisham, 29, Guin, was arrested on July 20 for interference with custody and was released the same day from the county jail under a $2,500 bond.

• Hamilton Planning Commission, fourth Monday, 6 p.m., Hamilton City Hall.  
• Marion County Board of Education, date and time set individually, Central Office site next to the Marion County-Rankin Fite Airport.
• Marion County Commission, second and third Monday, 9 a.m., commission’s annex building. The commission will hold a 9 a.m. work session on the Thursday before the month’s first meeting. The commission has moved its Aug. 15 meeting to Monday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m.
• Marion County E-911 Board, second Tuesday, 6 p.m. at the E-911 center about a block from the county engineer’s office in Hamilton.
• Marion County Public Water Authority, first Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., authority’s office at 130 Industrial Drive in Hamilton. The August meeting has been moved from Aug. 2 to Aug. 9.
• Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, second Tuesday of each month, 5:45 p.m., Oh! Bryan’s Family Steakhouse in Hamilton.
• Northwest Alabama Arts Council, date and time set individually, Hamilton City Hall.  
• Northwest Alabama Gas District Board of Directors, date and time set individually, gas district office in Hamilton.
• Twin Town Council, first Monday, 7 p.m., Twin Town Hall building.
• Twin Water Authority, first Tuesday, 6 p.m., Twin Water Authority building.
• Winfield City Board of Education, second Tuesday at noon at the board office.
• Winfield City Council, first and third Tuesday, 6 p.m.
• Winfield Park and Recreation Board, second Wednesday, 5 p.m.

Winfield Police Dept.
WINFIELD - Officers with the Winfield Police Department issued six citations during the period from July 21-July 27 with the following breakdown: Two each for speeding and other violation; and one each for tag violation and no insurance
The following incident reports were filed during the period: Five for alias warrants; three for second-degree theft of property; two each for harassment, officer’s report and domestic violence; and one each for third-degree theft of property, violation of the vicious dog ordinance, third-degree burglary, identity theft, third-degree assault, theft by deception, gas drive-off, harassing communications, and fraud.
The department worked two accidents in the period.
