Columbus, Miss. - Bessie Cantrell, 93, Columbus, Miss. (formerly of Sulligent), passed away
on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Born on March 18, 1915, in Lamar County, she was the daughter of the late John
James and Rosanna Turman Eastman. She was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie
Cantrell; daughter, Sondra Tucker; sisters, Viola Loggins, Vernie Seaborn, Mary
Lou Moore, and Flora Burks; brothers, Alvin and Donald Eastman; and nephew,
James Eastman.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Otts
Funeral Home Chapel of Sulligent, with burial in the Webb Cemetery. Danny
Stanford was the officiating minister.
Survivors include her son - Roland (Mary) Cantrell, Guin; daughter - Lois
(Harry) Yeatman, Columbus; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Daryl Tucker, Bradley, Devin and Bobby Gene Cantrell,
Gerie Yeatman, and Tommy Forrester.

birmingham - Billy Joe Greene, 77, Birmingham (formerly of Winfield), passed away on
Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at his residence.
Born in 1931, in Hueytown, he was the son of the late William Early and Myrtle
Sexton Greene. He was a 1949 graduate of Winfield City High School. He enlisted
in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and received the national defense medal before he
was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked at Bell South, in Birmingham and
Huntsville, for 33 1/2 years. He was a member of the Dawson Memorial Baptist
Church in Homewood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eva Faye
Greene and Betty Sue Cunningham; and a twin brother, Bobby Gene Greene.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. from Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, with burial in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Rev.
Gary Fenton and Rev. Bill Johnston were the officiating ministers.
Survivors include his wife of 42 1/2 years - Virginia Hedgepeth Greene; sons -
Joe Scott (Kelly) Greene, Birmingham, and Russell Bryan Taylor, South Asia;
grandchildren - Aryn Elliott, Rhett Gannon, Reid Griffin, and Reilly Gage
Greene, and Loren Marie, Joshua William, and Jacob Andrew Miller; and a host of
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Active pallbearers were Tim Fulmer, Brian Cook, Bill, Roger, and Mick Hedgepeth,
and Sam Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Playboy Club from
Bellsouth.

winfield - Charles Almon “Bud” Hosch, Jr., 86, Winfield, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the
Fayette Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 19, 1922, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Charles
Almon Sr. and Ethel Sexton Hosch. He was a graduate of Winfield City High
School. He was a resident of Winfield for most of his life and was a previous
resident of Michigan, where he retired from the City of Detroit. He was a World
War II U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Pearl Harbor and Guam. He was a
member of American Legion Post 100 and Masonic Lodge #304, both in Winfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Lawrence
Hosch; son, Mark Lawrence Hosch; and sisters, Eula Fowler, Nell Wheeler, and
Joe Kate Wesley.
Graveside services were held on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the New
River Church of Christ Cemetery. Roger Hubbert was the officiating minister.
Survivors include his grandsons - Mark J., Matthew, Michael and Mitchell Hosch,
all of Michigan; granddaughter - Mackenzie Hosch, Michigan; sister - Shirley
Hosch Greene, Winfield; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Active pallbearers were George and Frank Hubbert, Ronnie Lawrence and Clarence
McCaleb.

GUin - Margaret Johnson, 82, Guin, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the
Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.
Born on Dec. 10, 1925, in Walker County, she was the daughter of the late John
and Rena Montalbano Hodgson.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 5 p.m. from the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church in Twin, with burial in
the adjoining
cemetery. Mike Beckon was the officiating minister.

winfield - Donald Loveless, 53, Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at
the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Born on Jan. 18, 1955, in Winston County, he was the son of the late David
Robert and Sarah Faye Cook Loveless.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky and
Jimmy Dale Loveless; nephew, Heath Loveless; and other relatives, Kelly
Sprinkle, Lillis Manley, Jane Meharg, Mamie Warren, and Sandy Miles.

Hamilton - Charles Bryan McCraw, 66, Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at
his residence.
Born on Sept. 6, 1941, in Marion County, he was the son of the late Cullen Bryan
and Carmie Hughes McCraw. He was a lifelong resident of the Fulton Bridge
Community. He attended Hamilton High School. He was retired from Toll Gate
Garment Manufacturing in Hamilton. He was a past member of the Alabama National
Guard and was a member of the Fulton Bridge Baptist Church, where he served as
the youth director.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Joe
McCraw; sister, Maxine White; and brother, Dean Roberts.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Fulton
Bridge Baptist Church, with burial in the Fulton Bridge Cemetery. Dr. Dan
Duncan was the officiating minister.

birmingham - Reedus Minor, 66, Birmingham (formerly of Winfield), passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008.
He was the son of the late Clyde and Addie Lee Minor. He served in the U.S. Navy
during the Cuba Missile Crisis. He retired from Tractor and Equipment in
Birmingham and was a longtime member of the Inverness Country Club.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the
Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Pelham, with burial in the Southern
Heritage Cemetery.

and Susie Perry Berryhill.

Church of Christ, with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win.
