Red Raiders suffer back to back losses

TUSCUMBIA — For the first time in the regular season, it’s back to back losses for the Marion County Red Raiders at Deshler.
Marion County came into the game with a 9-2 record after their loss against Midfield on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Marion County started the game well, scoring 21 points in the first quarter of the game to Deshler’s 16.
Deshler, however, was able to pull away from the Red Raiders quite quickly in the second half, scoring 27 to Marion County’s 15.
Marion County fought back in the third, scoring 20, but Deshler kept well ahead scoring 19 of their own.
In the fourth quarter, Deshler was able to keep the Red Raiders at bay with 18 points to Marion County’s 12.
The score read 80-68 in favor of Deshler at the end of the game, giving Marion County a overall season record of 9-3.
While their record is still the most impressive of the teams in Marion County, the Red Raiders will be looking to get back to winning ways in their regular season when they play Fayette County on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
