Jail gets green light with new architect

Construction crews began working on the new jail site in Hamilton on Monday, March 13.

HAMILTON — Marion County has its new jail architect after the county commission unanimously voted to hire Jim Berry Associated Architect's new architect Paul Butler.
Just a few weeks ago, Marion County was in danger of having no licensed architect as a part of its Marion County Jail facility construction.
Following the death of architect Jim Berry, the architectural firm was without a licensed architect, and Marion County could not build its new jail without one.
Berry's wife, Angie, has worked closely with the county to oversee the project, but with no license to work as an architect, she could not legally be named as the project’s architect.
Marion County has been in search of a new architect, with Ellis Architects being one of the main choices as Angie Berry has been working with the firm.
