RET SFC Curtis Kendrick, Sr. passed away May 18, 2024, peacefully at his home in Hamilton surrounded by his family. Curtis Kendrick, Sr. was born July 28, 1939, in Northport, Ala. to James Blackshire Kendrick and Leota (Strahan) Kendrick. He was one of twelve children, survived by one brother, Fred Stanley Kendrick.
On September 20, 1960, he married the love of his life, Nancy Caroline (Roberts) Kendrick. Together they raised six children, Karen Kendrick, Rebecca (Christopher) Mattingly, Curtis (Marina) Kendrick Jr., Monica (Nels) Baker, Christina Kendrick, and Kerisa Walker. PawPaw, as he was known to his 14 grandchildren, or WawPaw to his 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, was dedicated to his family and loving wife of almost 64 years.
Mr. Kendrick, or Curt, to anyone that knew him, was a retired Vietnam Veteran. Serving 23 years for the United States Army before retiring Sergeant First Class.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 24, 2024, at the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Guin with full Military Honors.
For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living-Romans 14:9
