Mr. Freddy Alexander Harbin better known as Ted, 85, of Salyersville, Kent., formerly of Winfield, passed away on Friday,
June 14, 2024, at his residence. Ted was born in Bankston, Alabama on December 24, 1938, to Grady and Elsie Smith Harbin. He was a 1958 graduate of Winfield High School. Ted retired in 2005 from Continental Conveyor and Equipment Company with over 44 years of service. His first 11 years were in Winfield before continuing on with over 33 years as the plant manager in Salyersville, Kent. In his spare time, Ted enjoyed spending his time gardening, working in his workshop, fishing, mowing, going dancing, listening to music (especially George Jones), watching Auburn Football and spending time with family.
Ted is survived by his wife, Kathy Harbin; children, Kim Townley, Amy Harbin (Kelly Wood), Shane Harbin (Andrea) and Jamie Whitworth (Chastidy); stepchildren, Elizabeth Solomon and Tina Hembree; grandchildren, Zann Townley, Zack Townley (Amanda), Zandria Townley, Stephanie Estes (Cody Barnett), Heather Hollingsworth (Craig), Skylar Galbraith, Gentry Wood, Brook McCaleb, Kylee Harbin, Devin Whitworth, Eve Allen, Emerson Allen, Ronan Thorn and Rhea Thorn; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Drummond; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by great-grandchild, Mason Allen Mayfield; siblings, Alfred Harbin, Eugene Harbin, Yvonne Smith, Tommy Harbin, and Danny Harbin; the mother of Kim, Amy and Shane, Betty Sue Marshall; and the mother of Jamie, Joan Louise Whitworth.
Funeral services for Ted were held on June 21, 2024, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial that followed in the New Liberty Cemetery.
