GUIN - Marion County High School Principal Dustin Silas and Guin Elementary School Principal Joshua Weatherly appeared before the Guin City Council to present their respective school reports on city tax money during the council’s Tuesday, Sept. 3 meeting.
Silas reported that the high school balance is $11,288.15 and Weatherly reported a current balance of $17,863.44.
Silas reported that since his hiring in July, he hasn’t spent any tax money. Silas said that he would like to have the LED sign in front of the school repaired. The back half of the sign does not function, he said. Silas said the sign was purchased in 2011 and was erected by Golden Rule signs through a contractor in California. Silas said that he is in contact with the company in California and will get the cost of repairing the sign.
Silas also informed the council that he would like to get a new flag pole placed at the `football field and a light placed at the base of flag pole in front of the school.
