Herman Fields, Jr., 83, of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1938, in Ft. Benning, Ga. He is the son of the late Lucille Ward Fields, and the late Herman Edward Fields, Sr. and the husband of Gwendolyn Miller Fields. They were married for 62 years. He lived in Brilliant most of his life and was partner and supervisor for Gateway Foodland Grocery Stores for 33 years. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Winfield Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife - Gwen Fields; a son - Eddie (Debbie) Fields, all of Brilliant; three grandchildren - Devin (Russ) Taylor, Dana (Glendon) Renfroe and Drew (Katie) Fields; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters - Dot Chastain, Elizabeth Perkins and Margret Pitts.
The funeral service for Mr. Fields was held on Friday, May 13, 2022, from the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.
Bro. Kent Nelson was the officiating minister.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Gideons.
