Matt LeDuke
HAMILTON — The Marion County Board of Education has chosen their new lawyer after the departure of former attorney Scott Hunt, who is now the Marion County Administrator.
Matt LeDuke will now serve as the attorney for the board of education following a vote from the board.
Marion County Superintendent Ann West stated, unlike most hires, the vote for an attorney does not come as a recommendation from the superintendent.
“The board attorney and the chief school financial officer are the two positions that the board hires without a recommendation from the superintendent.,” said West.
“In late July, Jayne Williams, general counsel and director of legal advocacy with the Alabama Association of School Boards, came to Hamilton and conducted training for the Marion County Board of Education on hiring a board attorney.”
West stated the board held interviews with candidates starting at the beginning of the month before choosing LeDuke.
