Frank Stanford

Mr. James Franklin Stanford, better known as Frank, 84, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at his residence.
Frank was born in Brilliant on June 2, 1940, to Claude Lee and Margaret Frances Conner Stanford. He was a member of the Center United Methodist Church in Brilliant. He was a 1958 graduate of Brilliant High School where he served as salutatorian of his class. After graduation, Frank attended Northwest Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in electronics. He spent much of his life employed as a machinist for Cotler Manufacturing and later with King Kutter, Inc., before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, going to yard sales and flea markets and antiquing.
Frank was a very outgoing person, never meeting a stranger and making friends wherever he went.
Frank is survived by his daughters, Sandy Anderson and her husband John, and Tammy McKellar and her husband Tim; grandchildren, Sarah Anderson, Clay Brasher (Kristen), Isaac Anderson, Macy Lott (Lynn) and Meg Stovall (Hagen); great-grandchildren, Thomas Clayton Brasher, Liza Jean Brasher and Campbell James Stovall; sister-in-law, Cathy Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Ima Jean Lawrence Stanford; his parents; and his brother, Doug Stanford.
Funeral services for Frank were held on Jan. 9, 2025, at the Winfield First Methodist Church. Burial followed in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens.
