Rate increases for Northwest Gas customers

MARION COUNTY — The Northwest Alabama Gas District approved newly proposed gas rate increases on Oct. 1.
For residential rates, the monthly customer charge was $11.54, and the gas cost $11.429 per MCF (MCF is an abbreviation derived from the Roman numeral M for one thousand, put together with cubic feet (CF) to measure a quantity of natural gas.)
The new residential  rate for monthly customer charge is $12.54 and a gas cost of $12.429 per MCF.

Board will sell gas to Fayette

HAMILTON - Northwest Alabama Gas District (NWAGD) in Hamilton will begin selling natural gas to the Fayette Gas Board.
The Northwest Alabama Gas District Board voted unanimously during a meeting on Friday, May 1, to enter into a one-year contract to sell gas to the Fayette utility to supply enough gas flow for an expanding latex glove manufacturer, Showa Best Glove Inc.

Northwest Alabama Gas District Annual audit shows promising marks

HAMILTON - The Northwest Alabama Gas District (NWAGD) is continuing to grow in profitability.
Gas district accountant Greg Guin presented the Fiscal Year 2019 audit during a NWAGD board meeting on Monday, March 2, telling the board there is $1.6 million available to be declared as ANDI monies, which stands for “annual net distributable income.”

Mild winter hits sales

HAMILTON - An increased customer base and low gas prices have helped insolate the Northwest Alabama Gas District (NWAGD) from low sales numbers during a temperate winter.
NWAGD is owned by six member municipalities and is operated by a board of directors consisting of the respective mayors. This includes Guin, Hamilton, Hackleburg, Haleyville, Sulligent and Winfield.
“Are we declaring this a mild winter?” asked Hamilton Mayor Bob Page.
NWAGD General Manager Heath Reed said it has been “extremely mild,” if not warm.

 

Lamar County Gas District acquisition a success

HAMILTON - “It’s been a good move for us,” said Northwest Alabama Gas District (NWAGD) General Manager Heath Reed about the recent acquisition of the Vernon-based Lamar County Gas District.
NWAGD recently acquired Lamar County Gas District on Jan. 1, adding approximately 1,300 customers to NWAGD throughout Lamar and Pickens counties.
Reed stated that NWAGD will be gaining approximately 40 chicken houses and 45 residential houses as their customers by the spring.

NWAGD announces Lamar County Gas acquisition

HAMILTON - Hamilton-based Northwest Alabama Gas District (NWAGD) announced the acquisition of the Vernon-based Lamar County Gas District during the company’s annual Christmas Party which was held at the barn at Coleman Farms in Brilliant on Friday, Dec. 6.
The transaction, which was approved unanimously by the NWAGD board of directors, will become effective on Jan. 1, 2020.
The acquisition will allow NWAGD to expand its natural gas service territory further into Lamar County as well as north Pickens County.
