HAMILTON - Marion County’s sales tax for education experienced one of its steepest year-comparison declines on record in August.
Marion County Superintendent of Education Ann West presented the sales tax revenue information to the Marion County Board of Education at its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The school system received a total of $144,039 from sales taxes collected in August in Marion County—$41,761 less than August 2018, when $185,800 was collected, which is the largest collection on record. August’s education sales tax total was also $10,585 lower than July.
