HACKLEBURG — The Hackleburg Panthers were crowned the Marion County Champions after beating Winfield, Marion County and Hamilton on home turf on Saturday, March 11.
The games were initially set to take place over Friday and Saturday, but with rainy weather throughout last week, all games were played on Saturday. Hackleburg won against Winfield in impressive style with a grand slam being hit in the game.
Hackleburg’s second game against Marion County was a nail-biter, with Hackleburg winning the game with a walkoff hit.
Hackleburg played their final game against the Hamilton Aggies, who had already mercy-ruled Brilliant earlier in the tournament.
Early in the game, Hackleburg took a commanding lead and played well defensively to stop runs coming in for the Aggies.
Although the Aggies were able to fight back late in the game, Hackleburg was able to hold on and keep the title of Marion County Champions on home soil.
