HAMILTON — The Hamilton City Council recently authorized the purchase of 6.03 acres of land located across from the Hamilton Track Complex to be used for additional parking.
Known as the Lawhon property, funds totalling $126,630 were paid for the land on County Highway 42.
Approximately $66,630 of the monies came from the city’s general fund, with the remainder of $60,000 coming out of the city’s capital improvement fund account.
Other council business on Sept. 16 included the following:
• Approved a lateral transfer of Waste Water Plant Operator Trea Herron to a Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee.
• Posted a job opening for a waste water operator trainee or certified operator.
• Announced that Chad Lee was hired as a sanitation worker for the Hamilton Sanitation Department.
• Approved a refund of $27,567.27 in consumer use taxes to NTN-Bower for Jan. 2020 to Sept. 2021.
• Began the notification process for the Oct. 21 Public Notice Hearing regarding closing a portion of Lonestar Drive.
• Announced that Billy Owen would replace a current zoning board member to complete a three-year term.
