Downtown parking limits in Hamilton to be enforced

Parking limits in downtown Hamilton, such as this 30-minute courthouse-related parking area, are now being strictly enforced with fines of $25, $50 and $100, depending on the number of offenses.

HAMILTON — Visitors to downtown Hamilton should be aware that after numerous complaints about downtown parking, the Hamilton Police Department will now be enforcing limits and writing tickets, when necessary, after a resolution was passed regarding the matter on Feb. 3 during a city council meeting.
Hamilton Mayor Bob Page noted both he and several council members had received complaints. He said the situation has not been fair to the public who would like to shop in downtown Hamilton.
During discussion, vehicles were noted to have been left all day and even overnight in the 30-minute parking area near the courthouse.
Hamilton Police Chief Jordan Carter said he believes the resolution and its enforcement would be “the most fair way to do this” and said he is “about fairness and about what’s right and what’s wrong.”
