Diane Bozeman Ballard

Diane Bozeman Ballard, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on Nov. 7, 1953, Diane's life was marked by her exceptional intellect, boundless generosity and remarkable talents that touched countless lives.
A true academic, Diane was the valedictorian of Marion County High School's Class of 1972 and graduated at the top of her class at Bevill College. Her passion for learning extended beyond her own achievements; she was a phenomenal math tutor, helping many individuals excel in their studies, from elementary school to college courses and even workplace advancement. Her dedication to helping others succeed was truly inspiring.
Diane was also an extraordinary caregiver, known for selflessly supporting family and friends, embarking on new chapters or navigating life's final stages. Her compassion and support provided comfort and stability to those who needed it most. Beyond her nurturing spirit, Diane was an incredible cook. Her skills were legendary throughout the community. She was also an expert sewer, lovingly clothing hundreds of children with her exceptional talents.
She is survived by her loving children, son, Tim Palmer (Mendy) of Tuscumbia, Ala., and daughter, Kathy Thomas (Shannon) of Boaz, Ala.; bonus daughter, Tina Barley (Terry) of Hamilton; cherished grandchildren, Miles Nesbitt (Brooklyn) of Tuscumbia, Kennedy Montgomery of Tuscumbia, Harrisyn Thomas of Boaz and MacKenzie Gilstrap of Spruce Pine. She also leaves behind three adored great-grandchildren, Mark Rylan Nesbitt, Eli Montgomery and Warren Montgomery. Diane is also survived by her brothers, Randle Bozeman (Hilda) of Brilliant, David Bozeman (Becky) of Guin and Mickey Bozeman (Terri) of Guin; and her sister, Debbie McMillan (Ronald) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Diane was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Fred and Mary Dean Bozeman.
Funeral services were held on May 30, 2025, at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Terry Barley officiated. Pallbearers were Miles Nesbitt, Drew Childers, Allen Garrison, Sully Garrison, Robin Tyra and Jamie Berryhill.
The family extends a special thank you to her compassionate hospice nurses, Zoie Merchant and Lauren Cox, and to her "bestie" and special caregiver, Keitha Campbell, for their exceptional care and support.
Her legacy of kindness, intelligence and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
