HAMILTON — The 25th District Attorney’s Office in Hamilton will participate in a statewide blood drive this Friday, April 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Methodist Church parking lot.
The event will be held as part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 19-25) to help meet the critical need for life-saving blood donations. The special week is held each year to honor victims of crime and community support services.
Statistics noted by organizers include blood being needed every two seconds in the U.S., with some victims requiring dozens of blood units. Trauma patients can require more than 20, 50 or 100 units of blood within the first 24 hours.
Unfortunately, only three percent of eligible Americans donate blood each year.
To schedule an appointment to donate blood this Friday, please contact Victim Services Officer Gena Holloway at the district attorney’s office at 205-921-7403. Walk-ins are also welcome.
