HHS Junior Civitans selling purple t-shirts

MARION COUNTY — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and everyone is being asked to wear purple on “Purple Thursday,” to be observed this year on Oct. 17 in recognition of survivors of domestic violence.
The Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force has also noted the Junior Civitan Club at Hamilton High School is selling specially-designed purple t-shirts as part of a service project, with all proceeds to go to the local task force.
The MCDVTF supports Safeplace and the local shelter in Marion County, so all funds raised by the t-shirt sales will stay in the county to help aid local survivors.
Junior Civitan Sponsor Kacy Cobb has reached out to all area schools, so high school and middle school students will be able to order t-shirts through contacts at their schools.
The deadline to order t-shirts is Saturday, Oct. 5. The cost is $15 for small, medium, large and extra-large. Sizes 2X, 3X and 4X are $17.
Any organizations, businesses or individuals wishing to order t-shirts may do so by emailing the task force at mcdvtf@gmail.com.
This is the second year the Junior Civitans have sold t-shirts to help spread awareness and raise funds.
“We had a lot of orders last year, and we hope we get even more this year,” Cobb noted. “We’re sponsoring the t-shirt sales to help out domestic violence survivors as a club service project.
“Please know that all proceeds will be donated to domestic violence organizations in our county. We really want this project to be a success and to see as many people wearing purple as possible on Oct. 17.”
For more information, Cobb said messages could be left for her at the high school at 205-921-3281.
Safeplace’s 24-hour hotlines are 256-767-6210 and 800-550-9215.
