HAMILTON — During its Monday, Nov. 3, organizational meeting of the new administration of the mayor and city council for the City of Hamilton, several resolutions were passed to establish the municipal structure for the city, including:
• Appointed Sherry Armstrong to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore;
• Reappointed Angela Owen as the city clerk;
• Reappointed Jordan Carter as police chief for the Hamilton Police Department;
• Reappointed Tim Rye as fire chief for the Hamilton Fire Department;
• Reappointed Judge Wyatt Howell as the municipal judge for Hamilton Municipal Court;
• Reappointed Jeremy Streetman as the city’s prosecuting municipal court attorney and as the city’s attorney;
• Ratified the continued use by the city of all its current financial institution depositories--First State Bank of the South, First National Bank and PeoplesTrust Bank;
• Authorized the city clerk to continue using current depositories for the city’s municipal funds;
• Added Hamilton Mayor Tami Lewis Williams as an authorized signature to all municipal accounts, replacing outgoing mayor, Bob Page;
• Authorized Amy Nix and/or Sherry Armstrong as authorized signatures to all municipal accounts, replacing former councilor Wade Williams;
• Reappointed CPA Alan Cantrell and his firm as the accountants for the city;
• Reappointed Riggs Accounting Firm to continue to perform auditing services for the city; and
• Appointed Williams to serve on the Northwest Alabama Gas District Board, a position usually held by the sitting mayor.
After the organizational matters were handled, the council began its regular meeting. The only item covered during this portion of the meeting was the approval for an additional $33,000 in funds to complete repairs to the Wastewater Plant’s sewer treatment header pipe valves.
