Brandon Owens is the new Hamilton High band director.
HAMILTON — The Hamilton Aggie Marching Band has a new leader this year as band director Brandon Owens has taken over following the departure of former director Jack Rudisell.
Rudisell has taken a position at Shades Valley High School.
Owens, who began his work with the Aggie Band on July 17, comes from Harvest.

HAMILTON — Hamilton High School is now reeling and casting. With a rich history behind the school and decades of statistics on football, basketball, baseball, track and many other sports, fishing is now making a name for itself.
Calling themselves the Aggie Anglers, this 2022-2023 school year is the first one to have a fishing team for the school. Students approached Ally Taylor, the agriscience teacher, in wanting to make the new sport a reality.
MARION COUNTY
Marion County will be sending their boys and girls to the regional tournament this week after both teams won their respective 1A Area 11 championship games.
The Lady Red Raiders tamed the Hubbertville Lions 63-31, and the Raiders won 69-39 over the Lynn Bears.
Both teams will be advancing to the regional tournament this week.
Hamilton High School was one area school which received a shooting threat.

HAMILTON — Hamilton High School was one of several schools in Alabama to suffer a bit of a scare after serious threats were called into the school on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
Hamilton Police Chief Ronnie Vickery stated the Hamilton Police Department was notified about a possible active shooter at an unspecified Hamilton school campus.
“We were notified about the possibility of an active shooter in Hamilton schools,” said Vickery. “They didn’t specify which school. It came from the state trooper’s office.”

GARDENDALE — The Hamilton Aggies suffered their third consecutive loss of the season, falling away from home to Oak Grove in Gardendale on Thursday, Sept. 8.
The game was originally set to be played in Bessemer, but due to work being done to the field at Oak Grove, the game was moved to Gardendale.
The Aggies lost by a score line of 27-14 in Hamilton’s first Thursday night game of the season.

HAMILTON – Should Hamilton form its own city school system? They want to hear from you.
The City of Hamilton announced on Wednesday, Sept. 22, plans to host a public forum to discuss the issue openly. The forum is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. and will take place in the Hamilton Police Department’s courtroom (former Hamilton City Hall).

HAMILTON - Kenton Steele, 18, has signed to play basketball for the Bevill State Bears.
With signing, Kenton, who is a 6-foot-6-inch small forward/ wing for the Hamilton High School Aggies, is fulfilling a life-long dream to play college basketball.
Kenton is the son of April Franks and Wesley Steele. He has three brothers - Talen Steele, Grantley Steele and Bayler Franks.
