Buck Fowler

Vaughn Steel "Buck" Fowler, 66, of Stapleton, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. He was born on Oct. 5, 1958, in Winfield, and was the son of the late Grier and Fay Fowler.
Buck graduated from Brilliant High School in 1977 and spent his life working as a skilled welder. Known for his hardworking nature and quiet strength, Buck made a living with his hands, building a reputation for his craftsmanship and dedication to his trade. In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his beloved garden, where he grew the finest tomatoes and peppers. A true southern man, Buck was also known for his ability to smoke a perfect chicken, a skill he was proud to share with family and friends.
Buck is survived by his brother, Frank Fowler (Brenda) of Winfield; his sisters, Indy Fowler (Donald Joe) of Tuscaloosa, and Felice Rickher of Daphne, Ala.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grier and Fay Fowler, and his sister, Georgia McNeil.
Buck will be remembered for his relaxed nature, humorous wit, his love of family and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his special friends, Austin and Donna Moss, for their kindness and help with his care.
A funeral service to celebrate Buck's life was held on Nov. 15, 2025, at Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield. Burial followed at Pisgah Cemetery in Winfield.
