HAMILTON — Members of the Marion County Commission organized a meeting on Thursday, March 26, with top local NTN-Bower officials in an effort to see if anything could be done about their news to phase out operations.
Those attending the meeting included all five county commissioners—Keith Nichols, Kenneth Cochran, Greg Gunnin, Tim Estes and Larry Akers—along with county administrator Scott Hunt. Randall Shedd from Senator Garlan Gudger’s office was also present, as well as C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development President and CEO Tom Wisemiller.
After the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, the commissioners and Hunt came by the Journal-Record to discuss the meeting.
Hunt began with noting, from the county’s perspective, sorrows and sympathies go out to those who are going to lose their jobs.
“We appreciate NTN giving a significant notice to be here through 2027,” he said. “We appreciate Mr.  Craig Allen, plant manager, and Mr. Shannon Kachinovas, from human resources, talking with us and giving employees a year and a half to nearly two years’ notice of the plan for NTN to shut down.
“This is not a local decision. This was an Osaka, Japan, decision and it affects more than just Hamilton.
