REFORM - The Red Raiders landed their first loss of the season on Friday.
The Pickens County Tornadoes routed the Marion County Red Raiders 42-12 during Friday (Sept. 10) night’s Class 1A, Region 6 game in Reform.
Pickens County won the coin toss and deferred to receive in the second half. The Red Raiders did not score in the first two quarters.
The Red Raiders had a quick three-and-out after receiving the opening kickoff. Pickens County received the punt at their own 24-yard line and initiated a scoring drive. On third-and-15 from midfield, Pickens County quarterback connected with a wide receiver for a 50-yard catch and run touchdown. The kick-after was good, making the game 7-0 with 6:42 left in the first frame.
Pickens County found itself back in the end zone with 6:29 left in the second quarter. After a 50-drive fro their own 35-yard line, the Tornadoes connected through the air on second and 10 from the Red Raiders’ 13 yard-line. The extra point was blocked by Red Raider Preston Conniff. The Tornadoes scored two possessions later, on a 35-yard pass connection with 1:25 left in the half. A two-point conversion attempt failed.
