HAMILTON — The Marion County Extension Office partnered with Northwest RC&D, USDA, NRCS and Live Well Alabama to develop the Marion County Ag Expo.
The event took place on Friday, Jan. 20, at the Bevill State Community Center in Hamilton.
“Our goal with the Ag Expo was to educate students on the numerous careers that involve the agricultural world. By bringing our local 10th graders in to talk with career leaders, students gained knowledge on how each job represented had an impact on agriculture and a better understanding of how a successful economy depends on jobs created by agriculture,” said Marion County Extension Coordinator Carla Lewis.
“Agriculture education as a whole is vital to the sustainability, enhancement and enrichment of lives.”
The event featured several stations for students to visit and learn from people in various fields of agriculture as well as an informative speech from Rick Pate, commissioner of agricultural industries in Alabama.
