Mr. Tommy Lee Pennington, 66, of Vernon, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Pennington was born July 7, 1955, in Sulligent, to the late Thomas Jefferson Pennington and Mary Nell Channell Pennington.
He was a labor contractor, and served in the U.S. Army with the 101 First Airborne.  
Mr. Pennington was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who liked to make others laugh and smile.

Lawrence Alan Swanigan

Lawrence Alan Swanigan, 58, of Guin, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1963, in Guin. He is the son of the late Lomax and Addie Lee Jones Swanigan. He lived in Guin most of his life and retired from Walmart in 1999.
He is survived by three sisters - Linda White, Barbara Swanigan and Patricia Wallace; three brothers - Curtis, Lomax and Maurice Swanigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces-and-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister - Laura Swanigan.

Janice Sue Childers Ozbirn

Janice Sue Childers Ozbirn, 72, passed away on June 20, 2022, at her residence.
She was born on June 16, 1950, to William Childers and Elsie Maxwell Childers.
She is survived by her children - Cyndy Taylor of Hamilton, Shonya (Blake) Moore of Jasper, and Shane (Carrie) Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren - Zach Taylor (fiance’ Miranda Mooney), Paige Taylor, Tiffany Miller and Ashley Miller; sister - Joyce Miller; sister-in-law - Nancy Childers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ricky Juon Miller

Ricky Juon Miller, 61, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on February 6, 1961, to Juon and Wilma Miller.
He attended Happy Hill Church and loved his church family.
He was a 1979 graduate of Hamilton High School and for most of his life was employed in the truck driving business.

Flora Margaret Cox Hanks

Flora Margaret Cox Hanks, 97, of Winfield, passed away on June 20, 2022, in the Northwest Regional Medical Center of Winfield.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Hanks was a member of Winfield First Baptist Church. She was very active in the church and served in many capacities including as a Sunday School teacher.
One of eight children of parents, Samuel and Mary Cox, she was born at home in 1925, in Decatur. Her family eventually moved to Cahaba Heights, a suburb of Birmingham, traveling by covered wagon.

Mr. Basil Ray Dickson, better known as Ray, 79, of Eldridge, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Dickson was born on Feb. 19, 1943, in Eldridge to Basil and Ruby Ivey Dickson.

Betty A. Kelly, 75 of Detroit, passed away on Sunday June 5, 2022, at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1946, in Marion County to the late Johnny and Bervie Stivinor Peoples.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years - Roy Kelly of Detroit; Children - Mike (Angie) Kelly of Detroit, Becky (David) Nichols of Detroit, Mark (Andrea) Kelly of Priceville, and Tammy (Devin) Henry of Detroit; 5 grandchildren - Dustin Henry, Laken Nichols, Drake Henry, Jake Kelly and Logan Kelly.

Jeffrey Scott Turner

Mr. Jeffrey Scott Turner, 65, of Winfield, passed away on Monday June 6, 2022, in the Northwest Medical Center. Mr. Turner was born on Oct. 21, 1956, in Winfield to Jackie and Mary Ellen Rutledge Turner. He was a 1974 graduate of Hubbertville High School and spent much of his life working for Continental Conveyor & Equipment Company where he later retired after 36 years of service. He loved sports of all kinds, especially Alabama Football and spent more than 20 years as a referee and umpire for the AHSAA.

Deborah Jan Vaughn Pollard

Mrs. Deborah Jan Vaughn Pollard, 71, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.  
Mrs. Pollard was born in Winfield on July 23, 1950, to Jesse Lloyd and Mary Ilene Hubbert Vaughn. She was a member of the Brilliant Church of God and attended Winfield City High School. She enjoyed line dancing and preforming with her friends, the Bama Dancers. She was a kind, loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother and friend that always put others needs before her own and always has a positive attitude.

William Wayne Lewellen

William Wayne Lewellen, better known as “Will”, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Northwest Medical Center.
He was born in Amory, Miss., on Feb. 4, 1992, to Peggy Lee Green and Brian Lewellen.
He was a 2010 graduate of Winfield City High School. He was employed with Clayton Homes of Guin as a forklift operator. He had an avid love for horses and horsemanship. He was a very humble young man and a shining light to all that knew him. He always had the ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face and he loved for everyone to be happy.

Sandra Kaye McCool Hudson

Sandra Kaye McCool Hudson, 53, of Sulligent, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  
She was born on June 23, 1968, in Amory, Miss., to the late Raymond Ed McCool and Willene Mixon.  
She attended Sulligent Schools. She enjoyed country music, dancing, her grandchildren (especially whooping Dalton), her family, fishing and shopping with Dalton at "Jasper Pickers". She was a member for over 30 years at First Freewill Baptist in Sulligent.  

Mary Lee Inmon Grissom

Mrs. Mary Lee Inmon Grissom, 76, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Helen Keller Hospital.
Mrs. Grissom was born in Russellville Hospital on March 16, 1946, to William (Lee Wilson) and Mary Lucille Inmon. She was a very modest woman. She did not like her picture taken, but what she did love deeply was Jesus, her family and helping others.

Nancy Faye Dozier Duff

Mrs. Nancy Faye Dozier Duff, 87, of Saraland, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday June 7, 2022, at her daughter’s residence.
Mrs. Duff was born on May 31, 1935, to Ellis Justin and Thelma Fason Boyett. Mrs. Duff spent much of her life working for the Carraway Hospital of Winfield as a Monitor Tech. She was a hard worker all her life, she loved to cook, and her children and grandchildren were her life.

Michael Dickson

Michael Dickson, 75, of Guin, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper.
He was born on June 23, 1946, in Clarksville, Tenn. He is the son of the late Elmora Curtis and Bertha Aline Butler Dickson and the husband of Dorothy Jean Baker Dickson.
He lived in Guin the past 10 years and served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the VFW and the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Ind.

Sharon Brannon Davis

Sharon Brannon Davis, 64, of Hackleburg, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at her home.
She will be remembered for her kindness and her willingness to give of herself to anyone who was in need. She was talented in many areas, including sewing, quilting, woodworking, and jewelry making, and family and friends will cherish items lovingly made for them.

He was born in Mississippi on June 20, 1942, to Marshall and Luella Cleveland Busha.

Mrs. Yvonne Webb Morgan, 87, of Gardendale, formerly of Brilliant, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Gardendale with her friends and family at her side.
She was born July 12, 1934, to Robert Vence Webb and Willie Hawkins Webb. She was a lifelong resident of Brilliant and a member of the Brilliant Church of God.  

Jason Edward Estes

Jason Edward Estes, 44, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at his residence.  
He was born in Winfield on March 13, 1978, to J. B. and Evelyn Herren Estes. He was a 1996 graduate of Winfield City High School and earned his Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology from Bevill State Community College.

Mrs. Nora Lee Barnett Corkren, 76, of Brilliant, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Corkren was born in Brilliant on Sept. 29, 1945, to Joe and Pearlie Hicks Barnett. Mrs. Corkren was a 1963 graduate of Brilliant High School. She spent much of her life working in the sewing industry, the last of which was Tullahoma Industries in Brilliant before her retirement. Mrs. Corkren was an avid sports fan, but she especially loved Alabama Football.

Hubert Ray Rye "Pete, 89, of Detroit, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1932, in Detroit, to the late Curtis and Florence Lewis Rye.
He is survived by his sons - Curtis Lee (Annette) Rye and Neal Wade Rye; grandchildren - Tabitha Rye and Sonya Rye; great-grandchildren - Nina Rye-Clark, Logan Curtis Rye, Londyn Wilson and Laityn Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son - Carl Ray Rye; brother - Jessie Rye; sisters - Grace Roden, Olgamae Lewis and Jewel Swindle.

He was born on May 29, 1937, in Alabama to the late Luchen T. and Thelma Lou Fikes Lindsey.
He is survived by his daughters - Lesley (Randy) Whitehead and Lianne (Ron) Turman; grandchildren - Bryant Whitehead, Tori (David) Sides and Sydney (Cole) Mareno; and a host of nieces or nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife - Betty Lindsey; sister - Frankie Sue Griffin.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1932, in Marion County to Charles and Bessie Mae Pickle Ashmore. Mrs. Harbin was a 1950 graduate of Brilliant High School. She was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Ray Dawson Senn

Ray Dawson Senn, 86, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Senn was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and served as a deacon and minister.
He is survived by his wife - Lieu Senn; son - James (Amanda) Senn; grandson - Tyler Senn; granddaughter - Hannah Rachael Senn; brother - Billy Ross Senn; and sister - Nancy Sue Senn Edgar.
He is preceded in death by his father - Grady Lee Senn; mother - Nancy Ann Garner; and sister - Doris Mae Senn.

Randell Ray Randolph

Mr. Randell Ray Randolph, 67, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, in the Northwest Medical Center.
Mr. Randolph was born in Winfield on Sept. 29, 1954, to Ray and Dorothy Hulsey Randolph. He was always a hard worker even after his retirement, he spent much of his life working in the oil fields as a Rig Manager. Mr. Randolph loved spending time and fishing with his buddy and grandson, Brady Hamric.

He was born in Vina, on Tuesday, March 19, 1946, to Joe Pharr and Clemetine Scott Pharr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife - Linda Pharr; children - Deborah (Mark) Barnett, Jacqueline Pharr and Jason (Elisha) Pharr; grandchildren - Zarek (Sarah) Barnett, Carley (Michael) Head, Gavin Drewery and MyliScott Barnett; sister-in-law - Carolyn Jane Pharr; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Avery Joe Pate, better known as “Joe Joe”, 58, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
He was born in Marion County on May 18, 1963, to Joseph and Mary Meharg Pate. He attended New Life Fellowship Church in Winfield and was employed with Quantum Construction Company for many years. He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his daughter and granddaughters.

Daniel Rex Haney

Mr. Daniel Rex Haney, better known as Rex, 81, of the Wayside Community, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his residence.
He was born in Lamar County on Oct. 10, 1940, to O. M. and Pauline Reese Haney. He was a 1959 graduate of Marion County High School. He was employed with the Alabama Department of Transportation for 44 years until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church for 63 years.

Solon Wheeler Cunningham

Solon Wheeler Cunningham passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, in Guin.  
He was born at the family home in Eldridge on April 28, 1927. He attended school in Eldridge until his father passed away in 1940, when the family then moved to Winfield. He attended Hubbertville High School, where he played center on the basketball team. His team won the state championship in 1948, and to this date, their record has not been beat. He attended college in Livingston prior to joining the United States Air Force in 1950, completing basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.

George Walter Crews

Mr. George Walter Crews better known as “GW”, 84, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham.  
He was born in Fayette County on Feb. 20, 1938, to Grady and Audie Flyne Crews. Mr. Crews was a member of the Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church. He was a farmer, small engine repairman and musician. He was a very talented man that has written many songs and always told others he was inspired by Hank Williams, Sr. to write songs and play music.
