Betty Earnest Trull

Ms. Betty “June” Earnest Trull, 87, of Daphne, formerly of Winfield, entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at the Robertsdale Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Robertsdale.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1935, in Fayette County, to Fred Dalton Earnest and Melia McMillian Earnest. She was a 1953 graduate of Winfield City High School. He was a homemaker as well as bookkeeper for Trull Building Supply. She was a long-term dedicated member of Winfield First Baptist Church and taught three-year-old Sunday school children for many years.

Richard Earl Moore

Mr. Richard Earl Moore, 91, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023.
Mr. Moore was born in Winfield on Jan. 8, 1932, to Vandiver Clarence and Margaret Ellen Weeks Moore.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church and a graduate of Winfield City High School where he played football in the early 1950’s.

Jimmy Linwood Miller, 90, of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at The North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
He was born in Hamilton on Oct. 2, 1932, to James Miller and Flora Sanderson Miller.

Thermon H. McDonald

Thermon H. McDonald, 94, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in the Wayside Community. He is the son of the late Leonard Curtis and Ellena Blankey McDonald and the husband of the late Betty Atkins McDonald.  
He lived in the Wayside Community, Guin and Winfield most of his life and retired from 3M Company. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church.

Janie Elizabeth Tyra

Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Tyra, 83, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023.
Mrs. Tyra was born on Jan. 4, 1940, to Luke and Millie Nails Rozelle. She was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Tyra was a graduate of Guin Colored School and later attended Hamilton Technical School earning her LPN Certification. Mrs. Tyra spent much of her life employed as a nurse; she worked with Dr. Aubrey Sewell in Winfield for over 20 years. In her spare time, Mrs. Tyra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and being a caregiver for others.

Amy Michelle Taylor

Amy Michelle Taylor, 48, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Winfield, passed away on Dec. 31, 2022, in Fort Myers, Fla.  
She was born on Dec. 18, 1974, in Amory, Miss., to Ronald and Jean Taylor. She was a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church and a 1993 graduate of the Winfield City High School.
She is survived by her parents - Ronald and Jean Trentham Taylor; sister - Denise Taylor Stanback; her brother - Zach Taylor; and a niece - Jenna Caroline Borden.  
She was preceded in death by her sister - Tiffany Rena Taylor Borden.

Wilma Bly Sullins

Wilma Bly Sullins, 90, of Buford, Ga., peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 19, 1932, in Winfield to the late Walter Bly and the late Lillie Bly.
She was of the Christian faith and a former member of Norcross First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included listening to music and singing, plants, needlepoint and traveling. The most precious times to Mrs. Sullins were the moments she spent with her grandsons, Sawyer and Bailey.

Marvin Cecil Rye

Marvin Cecil Rye, 98, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton.
He was born in Alabama on Oct. 30, 1924, to John G Rye and Millie Jeffreys Rye.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sisters - Eva Dell Williams and Jimmie Lou Williams; brothers - Olan (Jo Ann) Rye and Hershel (Gail) Rye; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife - Virginia Rye; parents - John and Millie Rye; siblings - Laymon, Sanford, Jessma, Evelyn, Archie, Lemuel, Wilburn and Johnny.

Patsy Lolley Reese

Patsy Lolley Reese, 76, of Decatur, formerly of Guin, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1946, in Guin. She is the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Martin Lolley and the wife of the late Jimmy Dean Reese.  
She lived in Guin most of her life and had lived in Decatur the past 11 years. She worked at Health Tex, Walmart and helped start the Salvation Army in this area. She was a member of the West Meade Baptist Church in Decatur.

Glenda Gail Key

Mrs. Glenda Gail Key, 71, of Brilliant, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at her residence.
Mrs. Key was born on Oct. 15, 1951 in Winfield, to Grady and Gladys Pate Smith. She was a member of the Brilliant Church of Christ and attended Winfield City High School. In her spare time, Mrs. Key enjoyed sewing, cooking, going to church and reading Jane Patterson novels. She spent much of her life as a homemaker and one of her greatest joys was taking care of others.

Matthew Colby Duckworth

Mr. Matthew Colby Duckworth, 39, of Brilliant, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, in the Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on March 4, 1983, in Fayette to Donald and Laura Jo Ballard Duckworth. He was a 2001 graduate of Brilliant High School. He had an infectious smile that would light up a room. In his spare time, he enjoyed music and watching movies.

Mrs. Mary Alice Beasley, 86, of Twin, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at the North Alabama Medical Center in Florence.  
Mrs. Beasley was born in Missouri on July 4, 1936.  
She is survived by her husband and best friend of nearly 45 years - Junior Beasley; four children; two step-children; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; a brother; and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and three brothers.

Christy Price Ballard

Christy Price Ballard, 68, of Fayette, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2023, surrounded by family and incredible caregivers at the Grandview Medical Center.
She was born on June 25, 1954, in Tuscaloosa, to parents Faye and Danny Price. The family moved to Fayette in 1968 where she graduated from Fayette County High School. She continued her education with a study of nursing at Northwest Alabama State Technical College in Hamilton.

Shirley Faye White, 84, of Hamilton, the Fulton Bridge Community, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at the Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Russellville.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1938, in Lamar County. She is the daughter of the late Theair Roland and Dena Annie Cantrell White.
She lived in Hamilton most of her life and attended the Beaverton Baptist Church. She worked for McCoy Glenn, ran a service station and was a private sitter.

Ralph Martin Stidham, 77, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Diversicare in Winfield.
He was born in Alabama on December 2, 1945, to William Stidham.
He leaves to cherish his memories to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins’ other relatives and friends.

She was born on April 20, 1935, in Fayette, to the late Robert Moore and the late Lula Overton Moore. She was a pastor’s wife for 32 years to her loving husband Lloyd. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, taking care of children and had a love for flowers. She was a member of Brilliant Church of God.

George Eric Flynn

George Eric Flynn, 74, of Guin, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1948, in Guin. He is the son of the late Lucion George and Audra May McGowan Flynn and the husband of Robin Ratcliff Flynn.  
He lived in Guin most of his life, was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church, and was a loan officer for First State Bank of Winfield and Brilliant for 24 years. He was a former Deacon of Christ Fellowship for 4 years.

Joe Arnold Miles

Joe Arnold Miles, 75, went to be with his Savior and all the saints in Heaven on Aug. 22, 2022.
He was born in Marion County on July 14, 1947, to Donald and Flora Miles.
He attended Central High School in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and in 1964 he entered the Marine Corps where as a combat veteran he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He volunteered for the second tour and was a ground radio operator both tours. His active duty ended in 1968 ranking Sargent.

Ronald Dale Jenkins

Mr. Ronald Dale Jenkins, better known as Ronnie, 75 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, at his residence.  
Mr. Jenkins was born on May 7, 1947, in Winfield, to Henry Lamar and Hildred Norris Jenkins. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Winfield City High School. He was a running back and cornerback for the Winfield Pirate football team, and pitcher for the pirate baseball team.  
Mr. Jenkins was in the coal mining industry for over 27 years working at various locations, the last being Jim Walter Mine #5.

Mrs. Barbara Jeanne Davis, 67, of Winfield, formerly of Greenville, Miss., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Davis was born on Nov. 16, 1955, in Shaw, Miss. to James and Martha Toler. Mrs. Davis was a member of Cherith Baptist Church, Carson, Miss., and attended Greenville High School. She later attended Clark College in Newton, Miss., where she received a degree in English Literature. She spent much of her life as an assistant teacher with Prentiss Elementary School. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Mr. Jason Wayne Smith, 40, of Jasper ,passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022.
He was born in Tuscaloosa on Aug. 7, 1982, to William “Bill” and Linda Diane McKay Smith. He was a 2000 graduate of Carbon Hill High School and a United States Air Force veteran. He was a talented tattoo artist and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.
He is survived by his daughter - Emilia Smith; mother - Diane Smith; sister - Ashley (Shaun) McCaleb; nieces - Hailey Alexander, Abby Alexander and Leah McCaleb; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.

Anita Langston Johnson

Mrs. Anita Langston Johnson, 61, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Oct. 28, 1961, in Florence to Tommy Langston and Barbara Benton Tucker. She was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a 1979 graduate of Winfield City High School. She spent much of her life employed with Alabama Power Company as a Senior Customer Service Representative. In her spare time, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, work in her flower garden, watch Alabama Football and ride on the back of a Harley with her husband.

Jimmie Louise Emerson, 85, of Hamilton passed away on Dec. 19, 2022, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Guin.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1937, in Hamilton to Garlin and Exie Lee Ballard Clement.
In the late 1950's and early 1960's, she was employed for 11 years by Munsingwear in Hamilton. She was an excellent seamstress and after leaving Munsingwear to become a stay-at-home mom and homemaker; she put those talents to work sewing for the public.

Mr. Timothy LD Bass, 63, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility.
He was born in Winfield on Aug. 12, 1959, to LD and Toy Ingram Bass. He was a member of Brock Church of Christ and attended Winfield City High School. He spent much of his life in the farming industry and enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends.

Letus Atkinson

Letus Atkinson, 93, of Twin, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at the Northwest Senior Care in Winfield.
He was born on Dec. 14, 1929, in Marion County. He is the son of the late Herbert Simpson and Mirtie Flippo Atkinson. He lived in Twin most of his life and had served as the first Mayor. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and retired from the National Guard as Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Bobbie Raye West, 88, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Arabella Health & Wellness of Russellville.
She was born in Winston County on Sunday, April 22, 1934, to Veto Burleson and Belle Frederick Burleson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her special caretakers - Sherry Armstrong, Debra Humphries and Sandra McCreless Loden; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carolyn B. Tucker

Mrs. Carolyn B. Tucker, 83, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022.
Mrs. Tucker was born on April 5, 1939, in Vernon to Clark Boman, Sr., and Lily Black Boman.
She was a 1957 graduate of Vernon High School. She was employed with Liberty National Life Insurance, Company as an office manager for over 24 years. In her spare time, she loved to work in the yard, and spend time with her children, grandchildren and beloved dogs.

Jonathan Kyle South, 45, passed away on Dec. 3, 2022, only months after losing his loving wife, Amanda Gardner South. Amanda was not just his wife, she was his entire life, and he was lost without her. He was a gentle and sensitive soul, and he will forever be missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Roberts was born on Jan. 9, 1959, in Paducah, Ky., to Roy Roberts and Reva Motes Jackson. He was a graduate of Coffee High School in Florence and later received his Associates Degree in Psychology from Bevill State Community College.
