The Marion County Lake is currently closed. Officials are looking for a new manager.
HAMILTON — The future of Marion County Lake has been made a bit cloudy after the termination of Barbara Goggans’ contract as manager over the property.
The lake, run by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is now without a manager and has been closed following the termination of the management contract.
“The lake has been open off and on this week (as of Friday, Sept. 1), but it is closed right now,” said Department of Conservation Commissioner Chris Blankenship. “We’re working on next steps for a new lake manager.
“The contract was terminated because they just weren’t following the terms of our contract,” he continued.
“Primarily, they just weren’t there to sell the permits to people so they can fish. That was one of the bigger issues.”
