FRANKLIN COUNTY — Marion County Sheriff’s Department Court Liaison Tiffany Lucas Carruth was arrested this past weekend after having her vehicle searched in Vina.
Carruth, 42, of Hamilton, was arrested after being stopped at a driver license checkpoint, according to Marion County Sheriff Kevin Williams.
Williams stated during the stop, Franklin County Deputies smelled an odor of marijuana and conducted a search.
During their search, deputies found marijuana, an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia.
“It’s a bad situation for us and her,” said Williams.
“I put her off on administrative leave. It’s yet to be determined how long until I complete my investigation. I want to get all the facts before any repercussions.
“This is not going away. Whatever my investigation unveils, proper action will be taken,” Williams continued.
Carruth has been employed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department for 17 years as a dispatcher, court liaison and booking court specialist.
“She’s been a very good employee. It hurts,” said Williams.
Carruth was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 16, and charged with possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prohibited liquor and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Carruth was taken to the Franklin County Jail and was released on Sunday, Sept. 17, on an unspecified bond amount.
