Hackleburg 9-0 after Cherokee shut out
HACKLEBURG — The Hackleburg Panthers are now 9-0, 7-0 after their last region game Friday, Oct. 25, when they shut out the visiting Cherokee Indians 57-0. Hackleburg, as of last week, was ranked number three in the state in 1A by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
Friday’s game began with Cherokee winning the toss and choosing to receive. Immediately on first down, Garrett Pennington on defense sacked Cherokee’s quarterback, the first of several, setting Cherokee back 20 yards from second.
After the punt, Hackleburg’s Blaise Vickery got the first touchdown on the night. With a good PAT by JonHasten Stidham, Hackleburg led 7-0.
