HACKLEBURG — The Hackleburg Police Department responded to a Facebook post that circulated on Friday, Jan. 16, that led to public concern for the safety of Hackleburg School.
Hackleburg Police Chief Kenny Hallmark explained that around 11:15 that morning, Marion County 911 received a call of a suicidal man in a truck on Mount Willing Road south of Guin. Since it was outside of city limits, sheriff’s deputies responded to the call.
Five minutes later, at 11:20, another call came in of shots fired on Elgin Cochran Road. Hallmark said since he and another officer were returning from Hamilton and would pass by the road anyway, they offered to assist and respond to that call since deputies were otherwise occupied trying to make contact with the distressed driver.
