Shelby Ray Cantrell

Shelby Ray Cantrell, 98, of Beaverton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, in the North Mississippi Medical Center-South Marion in Winfield. Born Dec. 11, 1927, in Beaverton, he is the son of the late W.A. "Bill" and Margaret Minor Cantrell and the husband of the late Ruby Gurlene Finch Cantrell.
He had lived in Beaverton all of his life and was a logger and had worked in the garment plant. He loved gardening.
He is survived by children, Faye Hardin, Linda Gann, Agnes Gann and James Cantrell; a brother, Bobby Gene Cantrell; sister, Jewel Bolan; and several grand children.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Gurlene Finch Cantrell; a son, Shelby Ray Cantrell Jr.; brothers, William Cantrell, Ollie R. Cantrell and Roy Lealon Cantrell; sisters, Gerleen Wilson, Geraldeen Cantrell Otts and Mary Nell Cantrell.
Private family services were held on Jan. 17, 2026, at the Webb Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. B.J. Mills officiated.
