Lloyd Parker Ponds

Lloyd Parker Ponds

Lloyd Parker Ponds went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026. Lloyd was born on Feb. 10, 1936, to the late John Thomas Ponds and Grace Austin Ponds in Saltillo, Tenn.
Lloyd learned from an early age to work hard and love people. His life lessons taught him great character which he has passed on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for and faith in God carried him through many trials and difficulties, and we celebrate that his faith has now become sight in the presence of his Savior.
Lloyd retired from 3M after 25 years and had other successful business endeavors through the years. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Free Will Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving as deacon and in many other roles.
Remembered for his strong faith, his love for family and his strong work ethic, he leaves behind a lasting legacy for his family and all who knew him. He loved to help people and served many years as a Mason and with the Shriners.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Shirley Faye Pearce Ponds; two daughters, Sheila Ponds Chastain, (Dr. Stephen Chastain) and Sharon Ponds Sanders (Rev. Robert (Bob) Sanders); one honorary daughter, Adrianne Hodges Branson (Rev. Mark Branson); three grandchildren, Rebekah Calli Boswell (John Michael Boswell), Jesse G. Brown III (Sydney) and Parker Stephen Chastain; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Davis Boswell and Cade Hamilton Boswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, Michael Pueirtt and Aaron McKnight in taking care of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A Celebration of Life was held on Feb. 11, 2026, at Marion County Funeral Home with Rev. Robert (Bob) Sanders and Rev. Mark Branson officiating. Burial followed at Hamilton Memory Gardens.
