WINFIELD — Tiffin Motor Homes announced that one of its facilities in Winfield will be closing as the company moves its manufacturing to Red Bay.
Tiffin posted on their Facebook page on Friday, Feb. 6, that the company’s Class C production “is coming home to Red Bay” in May of this year.
A press release from Tiffin Motorhomes said the move will strengthen its vertically integrated manufacturing model, and that Red Bay is also the home of their Bob Tiffin Service Center.
Tiffin Motorhomes Vice President of Human Resources Scott Nash said in the release, “When you look at what we have here in Red Bay—the depth of experience, the pride in craftsmanship and the infrastructure we’ve built over decades—this move simply makes sense.
“Consolidating Class C production at our main campus allows us to leverage our greatest strengths,” Nash continued. “It’s a positive step forward for Tiffin and positions us well for the future.”
The decision came roughly a week before Tiffin Motorhomes announced Leigh Tiffin, the grandson of the company’s founder Bob Tiffin, resigned from his role as president of the company to take an opportunity with NIRVC (National Indoor RV Centers) according to a post made on Feb. 12.
A Workforce Alabama WARN List notice was posted on Feb. 5, warning of a closure in Winfield set for Tuesday, May 12, that will affect 139 employees.
The Class C manufacturing plant, which was focused on the construction of Wayfarer models, first opened in Winfield in 2017. Tiffin Motorhomes was later acquired by Thor Industries in 2020.
