Sutton wins big at BBQ competition

HAMILTON - Samuel Sutton, 16, won 1st place at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference Turkey Barbecue Competition in Louisville, Ky., on Friday, Nov 15.
Sutton, an 11th grade student at Hamilton High School, heard about the competition through his local 4-H Club, where he has been a member for five years, and competed in a competition at the Marion County level and finished in 1st place at the state level before competing in the turkey barbecue competition at the national level in November.
During the competition, Sutton was given a three-hour time limit to properly cook two turkey breasts and was also judged on adherence to fire and food safety protocols when cooking the meat.
