Progress made on jail construction

HAMILTON — Construction is still underway of the new Marion County jail facility, which is being built in Bedford Industrial Park in Hamilton.
Blocks were being laid down as of Friday, Oct. 27, which will pave the way for the construction of the jail going forward.
Work began on the new jail back in March, when construction crews began the ground work on the site.
A few weeks before that the county was in danger of not having a licensed architect after the previous architect, Jim Berry, passed away.
Following the death Berry, the architectural firm was without a licensed architect and Marion County could not build its new jail without one.
Berry's wife, Angie, has worked closely with the county to oversee the project, but with no license to work as an architect, she could not legally be named as the project’s architect.
