BRILLIANT — The Brilliant Tigers hosted the Vina Red Devils on Thursday night, Feb. 1, winning both games.
The girls played first that night, and the Lady Tigers were able to gain a close lead early on, ending the first half with a score of 30-24.
The Lady Tigers widened their lead in the second half, ending the third quarter with a 56-38 lead, and then finally winning the game 64-50.
With their victory over Vina, the Lady Tigers have now racked up 20 or more wins for the second season in a row.
Brilliant’s boys took an even more dominant lead, going ahead 17-3 in the first quarter and heading into the locker room at the half with a 31-18 lead.
The Tigers kept going strong through the second half and drove the Red Devils out 72-42 at the end of the game.
Between games, the Tigers recognized several players for their accomplishments. The game was also senior night, and seniors Madison Moore, Carson Lawrence, Elijah Harding and Abbigail Dickinson were recognized.
Harding was recognized again for two of his recent athletic accomplishments.
In the Tigers’ game against the Lamar County Bulldogs on Jan. 29, Harding hit 10 3-point shots and set a new school record. During that same game, he also hit 1,000 career points when he hit the go-ahead 3 with only 20 seconds remaining in the game.
The Tigers defeated Lamar County 63-59. Harding scored 32 points and made 12 rebounds. Kason Pool scored 11 points with 10 rebounds and Slade Kois scored 10 points.
