DETROIT — On Saturday, Feb. 3, the Byrd Fire and Rescue Department gave honor to Lynwood and Lorene Hamilton.
“These two individuals were a vital part in the organization and the community,” said Lana McNees, fire department board member. She noted, at the families’ request, donations were made after each one’s passing to the fire department in lieu of flowers.
“So, in honoring their legacy, the Byrd Fire and Rescue Department decided to present this mural for everyone to enjoy and remember Mr. Lynwood and Mrs. Lorene,” McNees explained.
“The design and painting of this beautiful mural was created by Missy Miles of Hamilton.”
McNees noted Lynwood was an U.S. Army veteran, and Lorene was a big advocate of the American flag.
“We will miss you both, and all your years of dedication will never be forgotten,” she said.
Those present at the dedication included all three of the Hamilton children; Brenda (Kenneth) Real, Diane Baker and Lynn Hamilton Jr. Also present were grandchildren
