Hackleburg advances to third round in playoffs

LYNN — The Hackleburg Panthers made the short trip to Lynn Thursday, April 25, and came home victorious, shutting out the Bears to advance to the third round of the baseball playoffs.
The first game was a defensive struggle, but the Panthers were able to break through to win 3-0. Blaise Vickery, Jaquan Reeder and Ross Hudson each crossed home plate, and Vickery also had 2 RBIs.  Aydan Beard struck out 9 of Lynn’s batters and only allowed 2 hits for the entire game.
Cale Tittle pitched 6 of the 7 innings for the Bears, striking out 10 and allowing four hits for three runs. Hunter Ellis pitched the remaining inning, striking out two and allowing one hit.
The battle was just as hard and the score was the same in the second game of the doubleheader. Hudson scored twice, and Reeder scored once to give Hackleburg the 3-0 victory.  Beard was back on the pitcher’s mound for the majority of the game, allowing 5 hits. Vickery struck out 3 batters and allowed 1 hit, and Hudson allowed 1 hit.
Austin Dodd took the loss in the second game for the Bears.  He struck out 7 batters and allowed 4 hits for 3 runs.
Lynn finished the 2024 season with a 16-8 record. They will lose several players to graduation, including Cale Tittle, Drake Farris, Cole Kelly, Logan Madison and Ryan Talley….
