BEAR CREEK — The mother lode of drug busts in recent years for the Bear Creek Police Department yielded 68.9 grams of methamphetamine found in a bag and scattered throughout a vehicle during a traffic stop where three were arrested.
David Michael Smith, 34, of 2366 County Highway 18, Hodges, driver of a white Ford F-150, as well as his passengers, Kimberly Nicole Liverett, 32, of 525 Goddard Road, Bear Creek, and Haley Cheyanne Thrasher, 18, of 616 17th Street, Haleyville, all face drug trafficking charges related to the stop which occurred Tuesday, Feb. 18, on County Highway 106, stated Bear Creek Police Officer Matthew Morrison.
Specifically, Smith, Liverett and Thrasher have been charged with trafficking meth, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of prescription medication and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, Morrison said.
The magnitude of this drug bust is extensive, especially when 28 grams constitute drug trafficking and these three subjects were each charged with 68.9 grams of meth, according to Morrison.
