HACKLEBURG — Congratulations go out to the Hackleburg High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Team!
Out of 14 competitors at the recent state leadership conference in Montgomery, 10 members placed in the top four positions, with seven earning first-place honors. The first-place winners will compete on the national level in Orlando, Fla., this summer!
The medal count was eight gold medals and six silver medals.
FCCLA members Lane Harper and the team of Kyndall Cleveland, Violet Chambers and River Hargett, all achieved a perfect score.
“Congratulations!” said Hackleburg High School Teacher and FCCLA Sponsor Holly Chambers. “We’re so incredibly proud of this amazing group of kiddos! We had a super successful Student Leadership Conference in Montgomery from March 5–7. Huge thanks to these students for their dedication, hard work, and leadership. You represented Hackleburg with pride and excellence—great job!”
HHS Principal Trey George noted, “I’m just super proud of these students and their sponsor for all their hard work and the way they represent our school, and just how well they were able to do at this event. They represented our school in a great way.”
George noted Chambers is the only sponsor of the FCCLA, which is the organization that accompanies the school’s Family and Consumer Science Career Tech Program at HHS.
“Actually, the only Family and Consumer Science Program in the Marion County School System is here at Hackleburg High,” he added. “We’re very proud of this program and the opportunities it provides for our students.”
Regarding nationals, George said, “I know the FCCLA students will work hard and prepare well, and they’ll do extremely well. But I’d also like to wish them good luck at nationals.”
