Dustin Hulsey; running for Winfield City Council Place #1.
WINFIELD — My name is Dustin Hulsey, and I'm proud to announce my candidacy for Winfield City Council Place #1 of the great City of Winfield. I'm running because I believe in a future for our city that is smart, sustainable and supportive of every resident. I worked for the city for years as a law enforcement officer and served in the roles of a patrol officer, narcotics investigator, was assigned to the state drug task force and last as the lieutenant chief investigator. I am 42 years old and a 2002 graduate of Winfield City High School.
• Work to lower local sales tax. Our families and small businesses feel the burden of every cent. I believe in a city government that puts its people first, and that includes working to responsibly reduce the local sales tax to help ease the cost of living for everyone in our community.
• Recruit new industry and businesses: A strong economy begins with strong local opportunity. I will work hard to bring new industry and business investments to Winfield creating jobs, boosting the local economy and offering more choices and services right here at home.
• Support for Winfield City Schools. Our children are our greatest investment. I will continue to support the Winfield City School System through advocacy, partnership and accountability to ensure our educators have the tools they need and our students have the opportunities they deserve.
• Build a manageable, transparent budget. Good governance means smart budgeting. I will push for a city budget that is realistic, manageable and focused on essential services. I believe in accountability and will work to ensure every dollar is used wisely.
• Cut wasteful spending. We owe it to our citizens to cut unnecessary and wasteful spending. I will review current expenditures, eliminate inefficiencies and redirect funds toward the priorities that truly matter to our city's growth and well-being.
