Doug Chaffin

Doug Chaffin

Danny Douglas Chaffin, better known to his family and friends as Doug, Daddy and Pop, was ushered into Heaven on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on March 29, 1953, at Guin Clinic.
Doug was well loved by just about everyone. His contagious smile, signature "fist bump" greeting and dry sense of humor made him who he was. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Doug led his family with grace and humility. He cheered loudly for the Auburn Tigers and will be remembered for his love of life, good Gospel Music, singing bass and the incredible strength that came solely from his Lord and Savior.
Doug graduated from MCHS in 1971 where he played football for six years. He was a Red Raider through and through. He was employed 38 and a half years at 3M and served on staff for five years at Guin First Baptist Church. Doug was a member of Guin First Baptist Church for 38 years and also attended Grace Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie Lolley Chaffin; three children, Kelley Chaffin Shirley (Scott) of Trussville, Jared Douglas Chaffin (Amber) of Chelsea and Kacie Chaffin Aston (Matthew) of Trussville; and six grandchildren, Christian Shirley, Jase and Judah Chaffin and Harper, Lincoln and Evie Jo Aston. He is also survived by his brothers, Cary and Greg Chaffin; his sister, Susan Chaffin McCarley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Awaiting him in heaven are his father and mother, Hoyt and Maxine Chaffin; his sister, Brenda Chaffin Beasley; his grandparents, Garvin and Stacy Chaffin; his niece, Brooke McCarley; his nephew, Dallas Chaffin; and his father-in-law, Heyward Lolley, who became Doug’s second father after losing his own dad in 1977.
The funeral was held on Oct. 5, 2025, at Guin First Baptist Church. Burial followed the service at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church on County Road 37 in Guin.
Pallbearers were Joe Lolley, Steve Pollard, Scott Shirley, Christian Shirley, Matthew Aston, Jimmy Bozeman and Grice Webb.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Martin Hajjar, Vera Akers and Morgen Tidwell and Dr. Dale Spruiell for assisting Doug in love and care.
