WINFIELD — This holiday season, Self Express Productions invites audiences to celebrate five wonderful years of Freedom Theatre at its 1755 Bankhead Highway location with a joyous production of Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical at the Freedom Theatre. Since Self Express began in 2015, they have presented over 60 live performances, offering unforgettable experiences for performers and audiences alike.
This musical brings the beloved 1947 classic to life with festive music, dazzling choreography and a cast full of local talent. Families will be charmed by the story of a department store Santa who spreads holiday cheer, reminding everyone of the true spirit of Christmas.
This year’s production features a diverse group of performers spanning a wide range of ages and experience. Caitie Adams, a recent transplant from colorful Colorado, makes her Self Express debut, bringing her love of art and performance to the stage. Michael DeMild, from Virginia and now living in Hamilton, is joining the cast in his first performance since childhood. Sixth-grader Angel Baker joins for her first Self Express production as does her sister, Lacey Jane.
Veteran performers also grace the stage. Rhonda Lee, a local pharmacist and Self Express board member, celebrates her sixteenth show with the company. Daniel and Kristie Estille return for their fifth and sixth performances, performing alongside their daughter Kaylie, who plays in the live orchestra. Teenagers like Brody Lynn, a junior at Winfield City High School and vice president of Beta Club, and Sydney Rigsby, a freshman, bring energy and dedication to the ensemble, showing that theater is a craft for all ages.
Live music enhances the magic, with talented students and volunteers performing in the orchestra, led by Andy and Rhonda Vogt, who have brought the first-ever live orchestra to a Self Express production. Their passion for music and community shines through, making the holiday experience even more special.
Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical is family-friendly, full of laughter, song and holiday spirit. Audiences can expect charming performances, colorful costumes and plenty of festive fun.
Tickets are available online at theselfexpress.org or at the box office, and performances are scheduled for December 11-14. Don’t miss the chance to join the Freedom Theatre family in celebrating five years of artistry, community and holiday magic.
