Kirkpatrick and Marchbanks reelected to Democratic committee positions

HAMILTON — Lynda Kirkpatrick and Marvie Marchbanks have been reelected to represent House District 17, Marion and Lamar counties on the State Democratic Executive Committee with the Alabama Democratic Party.
They were reelected by proclamation and uncontested.
Kirkpatrick and Marchbanks have recently reorganized the Lamar County Democratic Party, and they are now active with a new chairman, Bob Johnson. The LCDP meets every first Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mama’s Kitchen in Vernon.
Kirkpatrick is also the chair of the Marion County Democratic Party, and Marchbanks is the director of Minority Affairs of the Marion County Democratic Party.
The State Democratic Executive Committee is the governing body of the Alabama Democratic Party. This is Kirkpatrick’s second term as the SDEC representative. Marchbanks was elected in Nov. 2025 and will serve his second term beginning in May.
“Marvie and I are both honored to serve the people in Marion and Lamar counties,” Kirkpatrick said. “We hope to see the parties grow in members and work together to make our communities a better place for all of us.”
