City helps fund new chamber position

HAMILTON — To aid in assisting the growth of the City of Hamilton, as well as annual events planning and overall marketing efforts, the Hamilton City Council voted on Monday, Aug. 19, to increase its yearly donation to the Hamilton Area Chamber of Commerce.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its first-ever pickleball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Hamilton Pickleball Court, located on 10th Avenue Southwest, near the tennis courts.

HACKLEBURG — Hackleburg High School and Hackleburg Elementary School were the first schools in Marion County to have a full-time School Resource Officer approved by their town council and put into place.

HAMILTON — After years of planning and preparation, including publishing legal notices and jumping through various associated hoops, real estate developer D. Tyler Harris heard the words, “You’re zoned!” spoken by Hamilton Mayor Bob Page.

Hamilton PD requests pickup safety at elementary school

HAMILTON — During the Monday, Aug. 5, Hamilton City Council meeting, Hamilton Police Chief Jordan Carter spoke a few moments on safety issues regarding the pickup of children from Hamilton Elementary School.
The chief also asked for everyone’s patience at all the schools as they pick their children up after school each day.
“During the first week, we will have officers everywhere there is congestion,” he said. “We’re telling everyone to be patient. And we’ll make sure we have plenty of officers to help.”

HAMILTON — The Miss Hamilton and Miss Hamilton's Teen Pageant will be held this Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Bevill State Community College auditorium in Hamilton. The Miss Hamilton Pageant is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
