HAMILTON — Members of “Project Zero Suicide,” a VitAL initiative, would like to extend an invitation to the Marion County community to come together for “Let’s Talk: A Community Conversation on Mental Health & Suicide Prevention,” an open house and town hall event designed to spark real conversations, share solutions and build a stronger, safer community.
The event will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, from 2-4 p.m. at the Hamilton Police Department Municipal Courtroom (auditorium) at 422 2nd Street, Hamilton, AL 35570.
This free event is open to the public, with individuals from all of the cities and towns in Marion County invited to take advantage of the resources and information to be made available, and drop by anytime between 2-4 p.m.
Organizers noted, “This community gathering is an opportunity to discuss suicide prevention and mental health, exchange resources and identify ways to utilize community support to assist individuals that may experience mental health challenges.”
All community members are encouraged to attend, listen and share their perspectives about mental health and suicide prevention, to foster collaboration with Project Zero Suicide and the community, that leads individuals to safety and support.
Participants can expect:
• Informal drop-in conversations with mental health professionals, community leaders and advocates;
• Open dialogue on the challenges and solutions surrounding mental health and suicide prevention in Marion County; and
• Resources and connections to local services and supports.
“Let's create a culture of safety and compassion that strengthens our entire community,” said organizers.
