Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday set for July 17-19

MARION COUNTY — The State of Alabama’s 21st Annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins this Friday, July 17, at 12:01 a.m. and continues until Sunday, July 19, at midnight.
The sales tax holiday weekend provides shoppers with an opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales tax.
Besides the state tax discount, Marion County and all its municipalities also waive their sales taxes on specific school-related items.
Eligible items include some clothing, with a set amount of $100 or less per article of clothing.
Some computer items are also eligible, including single purchases of $750 or less, such as laptop, desktop or tower computer systems sold as part of a central processing unit.
Some school supplies,  school art supplies and school instructional materials costing $50 or less are also included.
