Law enforcement officers fulfill many roles in their departments; HPD chief shares info on those who serve & protect

(Editor’s note: The Journal-Record reached out recently to all the police departments in the county, as well as the sheriff’s department, to obtain end-of-the-year reports for 2025. Two arrested after police pursuit

HAMILTON — Two people have been arrested, with one being charged with a felony, after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 22 Monday, Jan. 8.

Sheldon Poole, 29, of Memphis, Tenn., and Tylisha Holst, 25, also of Memphis, were arrested after a tire deflation device was deployed by the Hamilton Police Department, stopping the vehicle just west of Exit 7 on the interstate, which is near Weston.

HAMILTON — On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Hamilton Walmart Supercenter held its first “Shop with a Cop” event, where several children were able to shop for Christmas presents with members of the Hamilton Police Department.

Suspects evade Hamilton and Winfield police

The Hamilton Police Department was involved in a high speed chase that ended in a suspect eluding law enforcement on Sunday, Sept. 3, in Hamilton.
According to Hamilton Police Chief Jordan Carter, unidentified suspects attempted to enter Fred’s Pharmacy on the night of Sept. 3.
“Some suspects tried to gain entrance into the business. We had an officer nearby that had initiated a vehicle pursuit,” said Carter.
Carter stated the chase was soon made very difficult due to the speed of the car involved in the attempted theft.
