‘Our ERs are overrun’

An increase in COVID-19 cases in Marion County has spurred local officials to forge a response plan.
A dozen local physicians and officials gathered on Monday, Aug. 2, at the Marion County School System Central Office where they brainstormed approaches of how to thwart a critical increase of COVID-19 infections in the area, due to the Delta variant of the virus, which is estimated at being 1,000 times more contagious.
Local emergency rooms are already being overwhelmed, according to hospital officials.
