HAMILTON - Discussions are underway to have a track facility implemented into the City of Hamilton’s old Munsingwear property development.
During a work session on Tuesday, Aug. 10, Hamilton City Councilman Scott Tyra told his fellow city councilmen that he has had discussions with Hamilton volunteer track coach Steve Dudley and they have worked with a well-known developer out of Atlanta, Ga., to inspect the Munsingwear property on County Road 42 and see if it a track facility was possible. He says the company has worked with Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools.
The Munsingwear property was acquired by the city as an abandoned garment factory and razed to the ground for development. Working plans for the site have it designated as a park-type area. Hamilton’s canoe launch access on the Buttahatchee River sits on the property too.
